Allira Aged Care

Allira receives income from the Commonwealth Home Support Program (CHSP) to provide assistance for older people to live independently in their homes and communities.

The Commonwealth Home Support Program (CHSP) is an important part of the government subsidised aged care system and aims to help people live as independently as possible, stay socially active and connected to their community

What is the purpose of Allira Aged Care ?

To provide elderly Aboriginal and non-aboriginal people who have an entry level Commonwealth Home Support Program package with transport and Centre based activities, as well as outings and trips away, and transport to appointments.

By applying online you, or a family member or friend acting on your behalf, can register and complete a referral for assessment quickly and easily, at a time that best suits you.

You can also quickly find out if you meet the requirements for an assessment by using the eligibility checker, at myagedcare.gov.au/eligibility-checker. If you prefer, you can apply for an assessment by calling My Aged Care on 1800 200 422. The contact centre staff will ask you questions to help them understand your needs and care arrangements to inform the next steps.

You will be asked to provide permission to have a personalised client record created. This will hold up-to-date information on your needs, the results of any assessments and any services that you receive.

The client record will reduce the need for you to retell your story. You can also nominate family and friends as your representatives. They can act as a representative on your behalf to discuss your care needs. They will also receive any mail relating to your Home Care Package.

More information about appointing a representative is available at myagedcare.gov.au/appointing-representative and can also be done when applying for an assessment online. You and your representative(s) can also access information about your Home Care Package, including approvals, waiting times and letters, through your My Aged Care Online Account via myGov.

There is a booklet available at Allira or on-line (Australian Government – My AgedCare Your guide to Home Care Package services) that can assist you to navigate the services.

What is the purpose of Elder Care Social Support?

We provide Elderly people with support so they can manage their daily Lifestyle and remain independent for as long as possible in their own homes. We support them to keep doing the things they used to do and support them to engage with services that are there to help them remain healthy and active within their community.

Who is Elder Care Social Support for?

Elder Care Social Support is for people of all walks of life, who are 65 years of age or older, or are 50 years of age or older if they identify as an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander person. Some people may be eligible at a younger age if they have disabilities.

Removing isolation and loneliness

By creating a positive environment where people feel included, through our service we engage elderly people with others to give them the opportunity to participate in group activities, so they don’t feel they are Isolated or lonely. Which gives them the tools to remain more actively involved with community and their own life choices and a good reason to get out of bed each morning.
